The first trading week of 2026 — spanning December 29 to January 2 — recorded 3,293 SOGC publications, roughly half the typical weekly volume as Swiss commerce paused for the holiday break. New registrations came in at 583, well below the 4-week trailing average of 1,214, while bankruptcies dropped to just 26 — a seasonal low reflecting court closures rather than economic improvement.

Despite the thin volume, 34 M&A transactions were published, led by Arxada AG's absorption of its Basel-based services subsidiary (CHF 95.8M in assets) — a classic PE-backed entity consolidation by Bain Capital and Cinven. The holiday window is traditionally used for housekeeping restructurings, and this week's pipeline reflects that pattern.

Vaud led canton activity for the first time this year at 11.8%, displacing Zurich's usual dominance — likely a calendar effect as Romandie offices processed year-end filings. Succession signals (22) remained moderate, with several board shrinkages in Life Sciences and Industrial firms across the French-speaking cantons.
