Schwyz

Canton Schwyz, the historic heart of the Swiss Confederation and the namesake of the country itself, combines a strong Alpine identity with modern economic dynamism. Located in central Switzerland, the canton spans 908 km² and is home to approximately 162,000 residents. Its GDP of around CHF 21 billion reflects a diversified economy built on financial services, construction, tourism, and an increasingly significant technology sector.

Key sectors include construction and engineering, retail and wholesale trade, hospitality, financial services, and real estate. Victorinox, the maker of the iconic Swiss Army Knife, is headquartered in Ibach near Schwyz, serving as the canton's most recognized global brand.

Succession planning is an emerging challenge, with roughly a third of business owners aged over 55. The construction, hospitality, and retail sectors are particularly affected. Schwyz's M&A market is active, fueled by wealth management deal flow in the Pfaeffikon corridor and generational transitions among family businesses in the inner districts.
